If your father, mother, or spouse holds an EEOICPA White Card and you are already providing their daily care, the answer may be yes.

Under the program, home health aide services are delivered by employees of an enrolled home health agency. In appropriate cases, a family member can be hired, trained, and employed by the agency as the patient's paid caregiver — earning a W-2 wage for care they are already providing.

How Does It Work?

01

Your family member's physician prescribes home health aide care

as part of the plan of care, and the Department of Labor authorizes the hours.

02

You apply with Alara as a caregiver.

Background check, training, and competency evaluation — the same standards as every Alara employee, because you become one.

03

You are trained and supervised by a registered nurse.

Your services continue. Your authorization moves with you — it belongs to you, not to the agency.

04

You are paid as a W-2 employee

for authorized care hours. Lawful employment, with workers compensation coverage, payroll taxes handled, and a nurse supervising the care plan.

What Are the Requirements?

  • The patient holds a White Card with home health aide services authorized by the Department of Labor

  • You can pass a background check and complete training and competency evaluation

  • You can reliably provide the authorized care hours

  • A registered nurse supervises the plan of care — you are part of a clinical team, not on your own

The person who knows the patient best provides the care. The household income reflects the work already being done. And a registered nurse stands behind you — training you, answering questions, and adjusting the care plan as needs change.
